James Denny
James J. Denny of Lawa‘i died Feb. 19, 2010, at age 86. Born in Pittsburgh, Pa., he was a retired school teacher and tour bus driver.
He is survived by his wife Elaine; sons Michael (Kristy) Denny of Honolulu, Andrew Denny of Maryland and James Denny Jr. of Virginia; daughter Janine (Anthony) Williams of Maui; six grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
There will be no service, per his request. All are welcome to join the Denny family at Salt Pond Beach Park on Saturday, Feb. 27, from 9 a.m. to noon, to enjoy the beach as he would have liked.
Scattering of ashes will be held privately at a later date.
Arrangements are being handled by Garden Island Mortuary.
Winifred Cummings
Winifred Eva Puanani Kaleiohi Cummings of Anahola died Feb. 16, 2010, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at age 70. She was born on Sept. 5, 1939, in Kalaheo.
She was preceded in death by her parents Ephraim and Evangeline Kaleiohi, and husband Benjamin Cummings Sr.
She is survived by her daughter Terrilynn (Chad Rapozo) Makanani; sons Benjamin (Dawn) Cummings Jr., Ryan (Vanessa) Cummings and Keoki Cummings; grandchildren Kahealani Paik, Chaunci Cummings, Akanahe Rapozo, Kala‘e Rapozo, Jordan Cummings, Raven Cummings and Makenzie Cummings; great-grandchildren Trysen Paik and Tejah Paik; hanai sons Kambie Alapai, Rylan Higa, Ronald Yamashita, Ty Yamashita, Tad Sheldon and Mitchell Pa; brothers Samuel “Buff” (Lois) Kaleiohi, Ellsworth “Opu” (Lani) Kaleiohi, Edward (Amanda) Kaleiohi, Robert Kaleiohi, Joseph (Marlene) Kaleiohi and Theodore “Teddy” Kaleiohi; sisters Evangeline Evans, Evelyn Reis, Phyliss Goias and Daisy Tailfeathers.
Viewing at 9 to 10:30 a.m., service at 10:30 a.m., on Saturday, Feb. 27, at Kapa‘a First Hawaiian Church. Burial to follow at Hanapepe Veterans Cemetery.

Henrietta “Etta” Kealaonaona Costa of Kalaheo died Feb. 22, 2010, at her home at age 63. Born on May 6, 1946, in Lihu‘e, she was a retired bus driver with Yamaguchi Bus Enterprise.
She was preceded in death by her parents Leighton Aipia, Enith Panui and Edward Panui Sr.
She is survived by her husband Robert Costa Sr.; sons Alfred (Lisa) Rapacon Jr. of Hanapepe, Christopher (Mary) Rapacon of Waimea and Wynson (Michelle) Rapacon of Kapa‘a; daughters Marcela (Keith) Hornos of Lihu‘e and Abelena (Kekoa) Watson of Kalaheo; 15 grandchildren; brothers Edward Panui Jr. of Lihu‘e, Edwin Panui of Kalaheo, Anson (Lita) Panui of Kalaheo, Leighton Aipia Jr., Kimo Aipia and Bruce Aipia all of O‘ahu; sisters Charmaine Aipia of O‘ahu, Moani Aipia of O‘ahu and the Rev. Luana Dotimas of Kapa‘a; numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation from 8:30 to 10 a.m., Mass from 10 to 11 a.m., on Saturday, Feb. 27, at Holy Cross Catholic Church.
Casual attire is suggested.
