Fundraiser for Kaua‘i United Way
The recently remodeled St. Regis Princeville Resort will provide the splendid venue for Quintessential Elegance … Champagne and Chamber Music for Charity, a benefit for Kaua‘i United Way from 5 to 9 p.m. March 14.
Mingle with cocktails to the Mozart Flute Quartet. Enjoy dinner created by St. Regis Executive Chef Carlos Jorge and the classical piano music of Chad Deal. Champagne will accompany dessert.
After dinner a live auction will feature co-auctioneers Mayor Bernard Carvalho and Ron Wiley. Auction packages include:
Round-trip airfare for two to Kodiak, Alaska and five days at the Aloha Lodge; New York City, a Hyatt hotel room and tickets to a Broadway show; San Francisco, a Hyatt hotel room and tickets to the San Francisco Symphony; Los Angeles to attend the 2011 Grammy Awards including a suite at the site; and a weekend stay at the St. Regis Princeville Resort with breakfast.
Following the auction will be a performance by the Galliard String Quarter and friends — all principal members of the Honolulu Symphony — who will present pieces by Mozart, Rachmaninoff and Pergolesi among others.
Tickets are $250 per person, $450 for two and a table of ten is $2000. Tickets may be purchased on-line at www.kauaiunitedway.org or with a credit card by phone at 245-2043.
Kaua‘i United Way raised its Campaign goal due to sharply increased need on our island but projections show them falling short by $70,000 because many previous donors have lost their jobs or had hours cut way back. This fundraiser is intended to close the gap.
For more information, call Kaua‘i United Way at 245-2043.
Online directory for community organizations
Kaua‘i Planning & Action Alliance is currently developing a new, searchable, online Directory of Community Organizations as a reference for the community. KPAA is gathering up-to-date information from all of Kaua‘i’s nonprofit organizations and community groups about their services.
Internet users will be able to search for an organization by name, by type of service, by geographic area, and other criteria to locate the programs that best suit the user’s needs.
From 2003 to 2008, KPAA hosted the Online Directory of Community Organizations, which included Kaua‘i nonprofits and community groups, on their Web site www.kauainetwork.org. KPAA is making some changes to its Web site with a new format for the Directory — and a need for up-to-date information.
KPAA is requesting that all community groups and nonprofits, new and established, contact its office to be listed in the Directory.
This free online searchable database is designed to:
— Help identify, locate, and find information about Kaua‘i’s nonprofit and community organizations.
— Provide a one-stop source of information on available services for the community, with contact information and a brief summary of each organization’s services.
— Help nonprofits and community groups make referrals and identify other organizations with similar missions and programs to foster collaboration and networking opportunities and avoid duplication.
— Link to the home page and e-mail addresses of those organizations that have them.
— Assist individuals looking for volunteer opportunities and causes to donate to.
Once the Directory goes live, organizations will be able to easily update their listing to keep their information up-to-date. Visitors to the site will be able to easily find information through a search engine by entering key words related to the type of organization or services desired.
There is no fee to be listed. However, organizations must be community-based or not-for-profit groups that serve the island of Kaua‘i. Faith-based organizations may list programs offered to the public, such as a food pantry for example, but cannot list faith-based services. If you would like to have your organization’s information posted in the online Directory, please contact KPAA by calling 632-2005 or e-mail drosenkranz@kauainetwork.org.
