Congratulations to Margie Akita of the Hanapepe Library on being named one of three 2009 Excellence in Service award recipients by the Friends of the Library of Hawai‘i. Margie was being thanked by Dale Shimomura (he was glad he got to go to Tuesday’s KIF baseball game) for taking care of his daughter when she worked at the Hanapepe Library.
Gwen Hamabata said there aren’t that many birds at Salt Pond right now. Actually, there isn’t any water in the salt pans and the birds usually come when there’s water.
Congratulations to Sadie Doi on doing a great job with the Friends of Hanapepe Library, and served not only as emcee for the library’s dedication and 60th anniversary celebration, but had her group providing entertainment (have you heard the magic Hal Kinnaman does with the ukulele?).
Mahalo to the Cedar Stars of Vancouver Island (where is Miss Canada, aka Bev Brody, when you need her?) for the special soccer game, Thursday between the GIFC and Ha‘aheo.
OK, ‘nuff said…it’s time to check out Kanoe “Suki 2U” Ahuna and roller derby in Kapa‘a.
