Lily Kaho‘owaha Sugahara of Hilo died April 23, 2010, at her home at age 77. Born on Feb. 18, 1933, in Opihihale, Kona, she was a homemaker and master lauhala weaver.
She is survived by her husband Yasushi Sugahara of Hilo; daughters Charlene Sugahara of Tacoma, Wash., Sharon (Sonny) Shimaoka of Waimea, Leomi (Lars) Bergkut of Hilo, Leona (George Gibo) Sugahara of Hilo and Melanie (Clinton Mehau) Sugahara of Hilo; brother Benedict Shon of Hilo; sister Mary Carbarloc of Hilo; sisters-in-law Lillian and Lucille Oak both of California, Harue Okada of O‘ahu, Minako Hefty of Illinois and Yaeko Kitajima of California; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation at 9 a.m., service at 11 a.m., on Saturday, May 1, at Borthwick Hawai‘i Funeral Home. Cremation to follow.
Casual attire is suggested.
