LIHU‘E — Kaua‘i Hospice is offering a workshop for anyone involved in caring for patients with long-term and terminal illnesses.
“One Breath — A Workshop for Caregivers” is Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to noon at Kaua‘i Hospice in Lihu‘e.
Through easy-to-learn practical skills, workshop leader Ibbie White Alshamma provides guidance for participants to learn new skills to alleviate stress and promote calmness; discover renewed courage to approach difficult decisions; and find peaceful moments within demanding experiences, according to a press release.
Alshamma’s personal experience with extended, at-home care-giving supplements more than 40 years of inquiry and study of the meaning of illness, death and dying, the release states.
She will share insights and understanding for the deep physical, emotional and spiritual impact of death and grief for individuals and families.
Participants can take a breather from their busy lives and share compassionate fellowship in a safe, supportive and comfortable environment, the release states.
Loose, comfortable clothing is recommended. Participants should bring blankets, beach towels and pillows for relaxing on the floor.
Participation is free of charge. Call Kaua‘i Hospice at 245-7277 to reserve a space.
