LIHU‘E — The Red Raiders got started early and forced the abbreviated ballgame in an 18-0 win over the Warriors, Wednesday afternoon at Vidinha Stadium.
Kaua‘i got its 18 runs on nine hits, but also got plenty of help from Kapa‘a in the form of errors, walks and hit batsmen before the 10-run rule was enforced after 4 1/2 innings of play.
Travis Koga was credited with the victory for Kaua‘i, while Brehdan Kamibayashi took the loss for Kapa‘a.
Lanan Rice-Kashima went 1 for 2 on the day with an RBI.
Dalston Miyasato scored twice and was 1 for 1 at the dish.
Jensen Koga was 1 for 4 with a triple and three RBIs.
Kaua‘i pounced on Kapa‘a with five runs in the first inning, then added three in the second.
It then opened the floodgates further with a 10-run third inning on four hits. Kapa‘a held Kaua‘i scoreless in the fourth, but was only able to muster two hits in the ballgame.
The Raiders will finish up their regular season on Saturday, heading to Hanapepe Stadium for a doubleheader with the Waimea Menehune that will likely determine the second-round champion.
First pitch is scheduled for 10 a.m.
Kapa‘a will then play the season’s final regular season contest as it hosts Waimea, Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. at Ron Martin Field.
