Ian Khan returned to the floor to fire a game-high 24 points and lead the Batty Boys to a 49-36 win over the Kalaheo Stars Saturday.
Spam Lindsey relished the home-court advantage of playing in the Bernice Hundley gym and fired 15 points to lead Manny’s Sports to a 59-32 win over Tropang-L as the Kaua‘i Youth Basketball Association hosted a double-header in the 18 and Over men’s basketball league.
James Badua fired six points and Jr. Punzalan added four points as Tropang-L took a 14-11 lead over Manny’s in the opening frame, but Rich Colipano, getting a feel for the round ball, again, ignited Manny’s with six points in the second frame to take a 21-20 bulge at the half.
From there, Manny’s outgunned Tropang-L 32-12 in the second half en route to the win.
Following Spam’s lead, Colipano and Canaan Higa each added 10 points, Allen Calumag and Bronson Bautista each finished with six points, Matt Lindsey added five marks, Manny Crain added three and pairs from Kekoa Prem and James Padre accounted for the win.
Badua and Jr. Punzalan paced Tropang-L with 11 points each followed by Darrel Silva adding four. Jay Serapio and Reggie Punzalan each paired.
Khan exploded for four three-balls in the second half, three of which came in the final period, and Clareson Torres finished with six of his game-total 10 points in the final stanza as the Batty Boys put its mark on the Kalaheo Stars.
Following the leaders, Micah Bermoy added seven points, David Medeiros finished with five points and James Sagucio netted three fourth period points in the win.
Olin Claussen and Tab Matsumoto paced the Stars with 11 and 10 points, respectively. Ian Clements and Braxton Garma finished with six points each and Jim Aronica added a first-quarter three-ball in the effort.
The 18 and Over league takes to the floor Wednesday night at the Kaua‘i High School gym when the Kalaheo Stars tangle with Manny’s Sports starting at 7:30 p.m. followed by the Batty Boys taking on Tropang-L starting at 8:30 p.m.
