Takeo Kakuda of Hanapepe died April 11, 2010, at Hale Kupuna, at age 94. Born on May 14, 1915, in Waimea, Kaua‘i, he was an overseer at the County of Kaua‘i.
He was preceded in death by Lester Kakuda; sisters Yatsuko Matsuba, Tsuyomi Nishimura and Harumi Yoshida.
He is survived by his daughters Alison (Michael) Nakagawa of Pukalani, Maui, Colleen Kakuda of Mililani, O‘ahu, Iris (Vaughn) Parongao of ‘Ele‘ele and Loris Kakuda of Hanapepe; and four grandchildren.
Services were private. The family requests that no koden be sent.
Arrangements are being handled by Garden Island Mortuary.
Kameko Ishihara
Kameko Ishihara of Kalaheo died April 3, 2010, at Kaua‘i Veterans Memorial Hospital at age 100. Born on March 3, 1910, in Kekaha, she retired from Ishihara Market.
She was preceded in death by her husband Shokatsu Ishihara.
She is survived by her sons Harry (Nancy) Ishihara of Waimea and Peter (Daisy) Ishihara of Kaneohe; daughters June (Edward) Shota of Wailua and Gladys (Norman) Yang of Kaneohe; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brothers Yutaka Arakaki of Kalaheo, Akio Arakaki of ‘Ele‘ele and Kenji Arakaki of Honolulu; sisters Fumiko Yoshida of Kalaheo, Yuriko Suehiro of Kaneohe, Asako Yamashiro of Kane‘ohe and Mildred Go of Maui; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Private services were held at Waimea United Church of Christ. The family requests that no koden be sent.
