NAWILIWILI — Chas Okamoto took the Boys No. 1 Singles and the Kapa‘a team of Makena McCluskey and Alexsis Valdez took the Girls No. 1 Doubles, Saturday.
But those were the only two matches Kapa‘a was able to earn as Kaua‘i High School, hosting the Warriors at the Kaua‘i Lagoons courts, finished by sweeping Kapa‘a, 4-1 for the boys, and 4-1 for the girls in the Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation tennis matches.
Okamoto, undefeated this season, and coming off the 3000 Meter Run, Thursday night, easily got past Kaua‘i’s Ryan Bieker, 6-0, 6-0.
The McCluskey/Valdez pair worked against the Kaua‘i duo of Jennifer Grady and Jasmine Ikeda before taking the Girls No. 1 Doubles, 7-5, 6-4.
From there, it was Kaua‘i all the way as B.J. Kai topped August Trum, 6-0, 6-0 for the Boys No. 2 Singles.
Christopher Flynn teamed with Matthew Kanna to defeat Kapa‘a’s duo of Anthony Lopez and Chris Wong, 6-3, 6-2 for the Boys No. 1 Doubles.
Otis Llewellyn teamed with Jerik Centeno for the Boys No. 2 Doubles to get past Kapa‘a duo of Elliott Haigh and Hunter Bilbo, 6-0, 6-1.
Lyle Nemeth paired with Peter Nguyen for the Boys No. 3 Doubles to get past Kapa‘a’s Ryan Lopez and Reggie Agaran, 6-1, 6-0.
In the girls arena, Sarah Kukino, also undefeated in the KIF season, topped the Girls No. 1 Singles by defeating Kaylie Nakamura, 6-1, 6-0, and Shay Orial, playing the Girls No. 2 Singles court, topped Sachi Detreaux, 6-0, 6-1.
Raisa Carlos teamed with Kari Noe in the Girls No. 2 Doubles to down Kapa‘a’s Nicole Deyeri and Kara Lee Higa, 6-1, 6-0.
Jaimee Gali paired with Kristine Castillo on the Girls No. 3 Doubles court to shut down Kapa‘a duo of Lauren Pang and Gabrielle Buist.
Kaua‘i next hosts Waimea at the Kaua‘i Lagoons courts starting at 9 a.m., Saturday while Kapa‘a hosts Island School starting at 10 a.m. at the Kapa‘a High School courts.
