Winifred St. Marie
Winifred Irene St. Marie of Kapa‘a died March 28, 2010, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at age 92. Born on Jan. 27, 1918, in Boston, Mass., she was a proof reader, editor for The Wakefield Daily Item, Houghton-Mifflin and Addison-Wesley Publishing.
She was preceded in death by her husband Albert Santa Maria.
She is survived by her son Alan Kenrick (Sandra) St. Marie; daughters Buffy Sainte-Marie and Elaine (Rick) St. Marie Mixter; grandchildren Dakota Starblanket Wolfchild, Kimberley Mixter, Alexandra Smith-Mixter, Robert St. Marie and Heidi St. Marie; and four great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be private.
Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick Kaua‘i Mortuary.
Ayako Neifert
Ayako Ihara Neifert of Waikane, O‘ahu, died March 27, 2010, at Aloha Nursing and Rehab Center in Kane‘ohe, O‘ahu. Born on July 1, 1925, in Kapaia, she was the owner of Olomana Orchids.
She was preceded in death by Kenneth G. Neifert.
She is survived by her sons Peter and David; daughters Trudy Peltier Keller and Susan Bissonnette; hanai daughter Patricia Ticala; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Private services will be held.
Magua Hesapene
Magua Tanacio Hesapene died March 31, 2010, at his home at age 89. Born on May 22, 1920, in Zamboanga, Mindinao, Philippines, he retired as a mechanic at Kekaha Sugar Company.
He was preceded in death by his brother Felix Libre; sons Dean Hesapene and Kenneth Hesapene.
He is survived by his wife Corazon Hesapene; sons Marvin (Iris) Hesapene and David (Camille) Hesapene, both of Hanapepe; daughters Verna (Mike) Kirsch of San Diego, Calif., Sharon (Byron) Ariola of Sherwood, Ore., and Audrey (Steve) Franco of Kekaha; 17 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brother Raymond Hesapene of Kekaha; sister Susanna (Joseph) Sabala of Pearl City, O‘ahu; daughter-in-law Juno Hesapene of San Diego, Calif.; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
Visitation from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., Mass at 10 a.m., on Saturday, April 10, at St. Theresa’s Church in Kekaha. Burial at Kaua‘i Veterans Cemetery in Hanapepe.
Casual attire is suggested.
