LIHU‘E — Six Mokihana Aquatics swimmers will be spending the weekend competing in a long course meet on O‘ahu.
These swimmers earned eligibility for the Manoa Aquatics 30th Annual Harry Mamizuka Invitation Swim Meet during the recent timed trials at the Kaua‘i High School pool, said Orlando “O” Anaya, coach for the Mokihana Aquatics.

Her other events, the 50 Fly (37.80L), 100 Free (1:17.52L), 100 Back (1:29.60L), 200 IM (3:19.26L), 50 Free (34.36L), 50 Back (40.25L) and 200 Free (2:50.32L) are all Hawai‘i AA times.
Kaitlin Santos, 15, will also swim in eight events, three being Qualifying times, the remaining five being Hawai‘i AA times.
Her Qualifying events include the 50 Free (30.16L), 100 Back (1:17.90L) and the 100 Free (1:07.01L). The Hawai‘i AA events include the 200 Breast (3:15.06L), the 200 IM (2:50.42L), 200 Back (2:55.18L), 100 Fly (1:21.33L) and the 100 Breast (1:30.03L).
Kailyn Jarry, 16, rounds out the traveling squad, competing in eight events with one Hawai‘i A time and the remaining events being Hawai‘i AA times.
The single Hawai‘i A event is the 100 Breast (1:;39.11L). The Hawai‘i AA events include the 200 IM (2:57.45L), the 50 Free (32.64L), 100 Back (1:23.31L), 200 Free (2:34.33L), 200 Back (2:57.84L) and the 100 Free (1:10.30L).
Santos said they’ve been practicing for the meet, but it’s a little harder here because a long-course meet is like swimming the new YMCA pool length-wise and the events are measured in meters, not yards.
Of the six swimmers, Santos and Jarry have competed in Manoa before with Hosaka, Ishida, Roe and Wilmot heading for their first experience in a long-course meet.
