KAPA‘A — A fire last night totally destroyed a wooden building and two tents at the Kaua‘i Products Fair, while the Red Dirt Shirt building and two other tents sustained substantial damages.
Damages to the structures and their contents are estimated to be $380,000, according to a preliminary report.
No one was injured in the fire, a county press release states.
The fair, located on Kuhio Highway in Kapa‘a, is expected to reopen within a week or so, sources said today.
The cause and origin of the fire are under investigation.
Engine 2, Truck 2, Engine 3, Rescue 3, Truck 3, and two fire inspectors responded to the 11:20 p.m. alarm., the release states.
The fire was deemed under control at 11:40 p.m. and fully extinguished at 11:50 p.m.
