Green jobs survey
More than 9,000 businesses statewide will begin receiving a Hawai‘i Green Jobs Survey beginning Monday. The survey is sponsored by the Department of Labor and Industrial Relations.
The purpose of the survey is to estimate the number of “green” jobs in Hawai‘i and to identify the occupations involved with the emerging green economy. The survey also asks employers about the training needs of these green jobs. The results of the survey will allow state, county and private workforce development agencies to train Hawai‘i’s labor force and to place them into employment.
A “green” job significantly contributes to environmental protection, preservation or positively impacts every sustainability. The survey defines five core areas as green and collects jobs information in these categories:
— Generation of clean, renewable, sustainable energy
— Reduction of pollution and waste; natural resources conservation; recycling
— Energy efficiency
— Education, training and support of green workforce
— Natural, environmentally-friendly production
