A Mother’s Day split in Hanapepe could not shake Lihu‘e from the lead of the Kaua‘i Protect Our Nation’s Youth baseball league.
Lihu‘e opened with a strong 14-11 edge against Hanapepe, but that win was answered in the second game of the double-header as Hanapepe blanked Lihu‘e, 10-0.
The split gives Lihu‘e a 6-3 standing while Hanapepe improves to 5-2, a tie with Kekaha, a double winner against Kapa‘a.
At the Kekaha field, Kapa‘a fell 12-2 and 11-1 in its double-header against Kekaha.
Kapa‘a drops to 0-9 with its losses.
On May 16, Lihu‘e faces another critical matchup when it travels to the Kekaha Field for a double-header against Kekaha starting at 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.
Hanapepe will travel to Kapa‘a for a double-header, also starting at 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.
Rain out games between Kekaha and Hanapepe are scheduled for May 23 at Hanapepe Stadium.
Lihu‘e will also play the completion of a rain out game against Kapa‘a, Thursday at Vidinha Stadium.
The single elimination playoffs for the Kaua‘i PONY Baseball league is scheduled for May 25 to June 1.
