The Kawaikini Canoe Club kicked off the Garden Island Canoe Racing Association’s 2010 regatta season Saturday at the Wailua River. Hanalei Civic Canoe Club took first place overall with 297 total points after winning 12 of 35 adult races and faring well in the na opio competitions. Niumalu Canoe Club took second with 145 points and Kaiola Canoe Club finished third. Niumalu will be hosting the next regatta at Kalapaki.
