Takashi Tanaka reads “The Happy Camper” online during his lunch hour in Tokyo, Japan, said his wife Nobuko. The Tanaka couple was busy photographing and admiring all the lei with their friend Sanae Oi, also of Tokyo, at the Kaua‘i Museum’s 30th Annual Hawaiian Lei Contest.
This is the second straight year the Tanakas have visited the event, and said they’ll be checking out the Kapa‘a Jodo Mission Boys Day mochi making Sunday, as well.
Hats off to the staff of the Kaua‘i Museum on a great event! They even had Ha‘aheo Oliver, Miss Garden Isle, and Veronica Pablo (didn’t see mom Josie in this year’s Kaua‘i Loves You triathlon) performing and helping. It’s great to see our ambassador queens out doing greetings at these types of functions.
Hats off to Steve Yannarell and Troy Lazaro on the Marriott’s Waiohai Beach Club May Day celebration as well. They had a great crowd and it’s nice to see Troy work in recognition for all the out-of-towners (Robin Goss from California and Troy’s cousin Lopaka Bukoski from the Big Island, to name a few). So, when did they start the lu‘au?
OK, ‘nuff said…time to go check out how many orchids Fely Sams has to mail off for Mother’s Day (it’s Sunday, you know).
