Congratulations to Stewart Burley (it’s easier to call him ‘Stu’) and Tillie Veniegas for being announced as Kaua‘i’s Outstanding Older Americans for 2010! Kudos to Julie Souza who did a great job emcee-ing that event…even got to tell Kaua‘i Mayor Bernard Carvalho Jr. what to do.
More kudos to Nelson Batalion (he was working at the older Americans event) for being re-elected as the Associated Students of the University of Hawai‘i-Kaua‘i Community College as its president…he said it was hard…only won by a couple of votes!
Laurie Yoshida was just talking about needing some instrumentals for her Rotary thingie and one of the recommendations was Paul Togioka, who just happened to show up to play for the kupuna. Earlier, it was Ron Toki (how can we market that singing bus driver, anyway?).
OK, it’s time to go check out Mia Ako and the Robotics Expo at Kukui Grove Center, and Teddy Arroyo and Chad Owens at the football camp in Kapa‘a.
Happy Mother’s Day, Kaua‘i! Stay safe!
