Chuck Brady, the Marriott’s multi-site human resources director, is honored by Dave Jordan of the Kaua‘i Friendship House, left, and Paul Newell of the Diamond Heal Clubhouse with the Outstanding Mental Health Business Leader award during the 5th Annual Mental Health Awards on O‘ahu. The Kaua‘i Marriott Resort and Beach Club is the first hotel in Hawai‘i to recognize the value of hiring Clubhouse members who suffer from mental illness, a news release says. Since 1996, the resort has provided transitional employment to more than 17 members of the Kaua‘i Friendship House, the largest number hired by any Hawai‘i employer.
