The Kaua‘i Sports Camp for children ages 6 to 12 will be held mornings the first and second weeks of July. The first camp is July 5 to July 9 at Kalawai Park in Kalaheo. The second camp is at Kapa‘a New Park July 12 to July 16. Both camps run from 9 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. with registration starting at 8:30 a.m. Instruction in soccer, basketball and cheerleading will be offered. Camp participants will receive camp T-shirts, daily snacks, drinks, lunch and more. Campers should bring sunscreen, hat and sportswear. Cost is $30. There are partial and full scholarships available on a first-come, first-served basis.
The Sports Camp is hosted by Kaua‘i churches together with the UW Sports Ministry, which is a sports-resource ministry from Colorado Springs. This ministry helps develop sports programs geared toward children across the U.S. and in foreign nations including China and Korea, states a press release.

A forest akamai camp is being offered for young people between the ages of 7 and 16. Students will enjoy a memorable adventure in the great outdoors of Kaua‘i’s upland forest, staying at the rustic Waineki cabins, a press release states. Prepared learning experiences for children include daily art and science activities, adventure hiking and storytelling by the fire. The camp will be staffed by professional educators, counselors and guest cultural-resource people. Tuition is $175 and includes meals, lodging and instruction. Mime theater and yoga camp Begins June 22

Princeville Yoga Art of Mime Theater and Yoga Performance Camp for children ages 7 to 18 runs June 22 to July 29, Tuesdays and Thursdays, culminating with a July 10 performance at Hanalei Art Night. Mime and yoga workout and performance workshops will develop skills in expressive movement and theatrical presentation. Janet Carafa, professional mime artist and yoga instructor, has trained under Marcel Marceau and performs as a company member of the American Mime Theater. Elements explored include body language and physics of motion, yoga, breathe and alignment, emotion aerobics, characterization and interplay, and creation of illusions in space. Cost is $96 for 12 classes. Drop-in and six-class session rates are available upon request. Scholarships available.

Planet Kaua‘i takes students on a mission to Kilauea lighthouse where nature artist Patrick Ching will be a guest instructor teaching students how to draw anatomically-correct plants and animals. Sponsored by the U.S. Department of Education and the Kaua‘i Economic Development Board, Kids’ College will be held from 8 a.m. to noon June 14 to June 18. Home lunches need to be provided on the last two days. Tuition is $125 for the week. Partial scholarships are available, with inquiries and enrollment forms found in school offices.
