Fatherhood. What an incredible responsibility and utter joy.
For once a dad, always a dad, planned or unplanned, good times and bad.
Whether it’s at 3 p.m. when your kids arrived home from school with straight-As on their report cards or at 3 a.m. when you caught them sneaking out of the house to go do who knows what.
The challenge is ever present, but the dedication pays dividends. Wanting your child to have a bright future should be your mission, watching them succeed your reward.
Regrettably, we have far too many fathers who have neglected their inherent obligation in raising their kids. Together, we must pull ourselves up; the next generation depends on it just as we once did.
No one can tell you how to best bring up your kids. But if you’re absent, you’re robbing them — and yourself.
Fathers engaged and involved in their children’s lives have a profound and positive impact on their development and our communities at large. From succeeding in school to avoiding peer-pressure pitfalls, kids need that strong influence at home to steer them toward success and away from drugs and other damaging decisions.
Cherishing your children, teaching them right from wrong and other critical life-building lessons, must be a given not the exception.
Let a heap of happy memories await you at the end of the road instead of a pile of discontent. Common sense stuff, right?
If you are already relishing in the simple delight of being a dad, we salute you. If you have room for improvement, why not change now. What better time to start than Father’s Day.
