LIHU‘E — When the doors to Orange Grove opened June 9, it was the first Orange Grove outlet to open on a Neighbor Island.
Home to the eighth Orange Grove outlet in the state, the store opened on the 9th because Patty Stanfield, store manager, felt it was good luck, according to a release from Kukui Grove Center.
Since then, the store has been bristling with activity as residents discover the joy of self-serve soft frozen yogurt with 40 healthful toppings to spice up their choice.
“We are very happy about our newest location in the food court at Kukui Grove,” Stanfield said in the release. “We opened on the 9th because it is good luck.”
Orange Grove is Hawai‘i’s fastest growing frozen yogurt chain and is currently serving nine stores, according to Kukui Grove, the latest one opening in Kailua, O‘ahu.
Since its opening, children have been fascinated by the array of toppings available for their selection from 16 different flavors of all-natural, non-fat frozen yogurt.
“They like it because it’s so colorful,” Stanfield said, juggling between fielding questions from customers and tallying the registers.
“Kukui Grove Center continues to be successful with strong pedestrian traffic and healthy merchants,” Jonell Kaohelaulii, the mall’s marketing director, said. “Orange Grove is a great addition to the center’s merchant mix and we look forward to their success this summer.”
When customers enter the outlet located adjacent to McDonald’s in the food court area, they select from one of three bowls. Browsing through the bank of frozen yogurt machines, they select a flavor and top it off from the buffet of 40 items.
“We’re new to the mall, and the island, and feature a healthy dessert buffet for all ages,” Stanfield said.
Orange Grove provides a trendy concept and invite customers to serve from a soft serve machine, their choice of flavors and toppings the way they want, states the release.
