The training was sponsored by the Boards and Commissions Office in cooperation with the state Office of Information Practices (OIP).
Jennifer Brooks, an OIP staff attorney, conducted the training.
“We were very pleased with the turnout at the recent training session, and truly appreciate the time spent by board and commission members to learn more about the basic provisions of Hawai’i’s open meetings law,” said Mayor Bernard Carvalho, Jr.
The board and commission members who participated in the training include: Laurie Ho and Gabrielle Young, members of the Arborist Committee; Leland Kahawai, chair of the Board of Water Supply (BWS), and Randy Nishimura, BWS member; Larry Chaffin, chair of the Cost Control Commission; and Tom Iannucci, Charlie Iona and James O’Connor, members of the Police Commission.
