LIHU‘E — The county Charter Review Commission is expected to vote on July 26 whether or not to place a question on this year’s general-election ballot on the controversial county-manager form of government, states a county press release.
The Special Committee on County Governance of the CRC submitted its report on the county-manager proposal to the full CRC at its June 28 meeting.
Details on the special committee’s role, Kaua‘i County Charter, proposed charter amendment, and a copy of the committee’s five-page report are available online at www.kauai.gov in the Boards and Commissions section.
Printed copies are also available by calling the Boards and Commission office at 241-4917.
The Special Committee members are Patrick Stack, chair; Joel Guy and Jan TenBruggencate.
The committee drafted a new county charter based on recommendations from a citizens ad hoc committee for a county-manager system, and took public testimony at community meetings in Princeville, Lihu‘e and Hanapepe, the release states.
