Kaua‘i Humane Society challenges community to ‘Save More Lives’
Today marks the official start of the ASPCA’s $100,000 challenge to “Save More Lives.”
Kaua’i Humane Society is a contestant in the challenge, and they are offering a promotion to kick off their participation.
Adoption fees will be waived for adopters 60 years of age or older when adopting a pet 5 years of age or older. Adoption fees will also be waived for cats 3 years of age or older when adopted after 3 p.m. The shelter is also offering rewards for the rescue of lost or stray pets, as well as rewards for retrieving your lost pet at the shelter, and prizes for adoptions.
Shelter contestants across the country are working to save at least 300 more animals — during the months of August, September, and October — than they did over the same three-month period in 2009.
The shelter that achieves the greatest increase in lives saved during that three-month period over last year will receive a $100,000 grant from the ASPCA to continue its life-saving work. A second grant of $25,000 will be awarded to the shelter that does the best job of engaging its community in helping to save more lives.
KHS is open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Tuesdays through Fridays and from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturdays and Mondays.

In addition, video play buttons are integrated into the mapping system as well as legal lot boundary lines for real estate searches. Full property information, slide shows, photos and chat functions are also linked to each property locale.
Bali Hai’s new website also provides extensive information about Kaua‘i including maps, slide shows, activities, and a community blog that lets site visitors know about upcoming local events.
