Nicholas Martin
Nicholas Christopher Martin of Princeville died on July 22, 2010, at age 36. Born on January 21, 1974, in California, he was a musician.
He is survived by his wife Jenna Martin; children Elijah Martin, Delilah Martin and Noah Martin; father John Martin; mother Jolie Hutton; brothers John Martin and Christopher Martin; and numerous friends throughout the islands.
A memorial service will be held at 4:30 p.m., on Sunday, August 1, at Anini Beach, 1st pavilion.
Arrangements are being handled by Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home.
Clifford Horikawa
Clifford Haruo Horikawa of Honolulu died July 6, 2010, at Straub Clinic and Hospital at age 68. Born in Koloa, Kaua‘i, he was a retired electronic technician for the Federal Government.
He is survived by his wife Ruth Horikawa; daughters Tanya Horikawa and Stacey Horikawa; one grandson; and brothers Jerry (Thelma) Horikawa and Wayne (Susan) Horikawa.
Private services were held.
Flag (army veteran) attire is suggested and the family requests that no monetary offerings be given.

Joseph Arruda Jr.
Joseph “Sonny” Andrew Arruda Jr. of Kapa‘a died July 14, 2010, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at age 80. Born on Aug. 21, 1929, in Kapa‘a, he was a retired lieutenant with the Kaua‘i Police Department.
He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Mary Arruda Sr.; brother Jordan Arruda; sisters Marie Arruda and Rosalani Arruda; and daughter Diana Javier.
He is survived by his wife Lillian Arruda; daughters Gloria (Russell) Yee, Mary Moran, Vicky Koga and Carrie (Greg) Kanelis; son Joseph (Juli) Arruda III; brother Donald Arruda; sister Theresa (James) Fune; 15 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation at 8:30 a.m., Mass at 10 a.m., on Friday, July 30, at Saint Catherine’s Catholic Church in Kapa‘a. Burial to follow at Saint Catherine’s Catholic Cemetery.
Casual attire is suggested.

August Camara
August Jacintho Camara of Kalaheo died July 20, 2010, at his home at age 88. Born on Aug. 17, 1921, in Port Allen, he was a World War II veteran and a retired ranch foreman for Gay and Robinson Ranch.
He was preceded in death by his parents John and Mary Camara; brother Manuel Camara; brother-in-law John Lopez; son-in-law Calvin Roush Jr.; and one granddaughter.
He is survived by his wife Elisabeth Camara; daughters Birgit Roush-Landry and Brenda (Leonard) Carvalho; son Wayne (Valerie) Camara; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brothers Ernest (Katherine) Camara and Richard (Elizabeth) Camara of Wisconsin; sister Dorothy Lopez of Florida; sister-in-law Pearl Camara; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation from 10 to 11 a.m., Mass to follow, on Saturday, July 31, at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Kalaheo. Burial to follow at Kaua‘i Veterans Cemetery in Hanapepe.
Philip Nakamura
Philip Noboru Nakamura of Kalaheo died July 12, 2010, at Kaua‘i Veterans Memorial Hospital at age 96. Born on May 17, 1914, in Ko‘olau, Kaua‘i, he was a proprietor of Island Service Station.
He was preceded in death by his son Robert Nakamura.
He is survived by his wife Kikue Nakamura; son Kenneth (Sandra) Nakamura of Mililani; daughter Jean (Norman) Aramaki of Hawai‘i Kai; two grandchildren; and sister Hisako Nakamura of Kalaheo.
Services were private.

Jessie Monroe
Jessie Monroe died July 18, 2010, at age 19. She was born on Oct. 19, 1990, in Lihu‘e.
She is survived by her parents James Monroe of Kilauea and Julie Monroe of Princeville; siblings Jake Monroe, Jenna Monroe and Jali (Mikala) Carlyle; grandmother Mary Beth Monroe; uncle Raymond (Grace) Monroe; aunts Julie Monroe, Anita (Kevin) Tucker, Elizabeth (Robin) Baker, Cherry (Robert E.) Baldwin, Gerry Lynn (Steve) Gray and Patricia Clark; numerous cousins, family and friends.

Buenaflora Yadao
Buenaflora “Buena” Yadao of Hanama‘ulu died July 21, 2010, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at age 77. Born on January 6, 1933, in Battog Sinait, Ilocos Sur, Philippines, she retired from The Kaua‘i Resort as a chambermaid.
She was preceded in death by her son Jerry Yadao.
She is survived by her husband Luciano Yadao of Hanama‘ulu; daughter Encarnacion (Manolo) Mendez of Maui; stepchildren Yvonne Martin, Warren Yadao, Robert Yadao and Janice Neptune; brother Andres (Engracia) Dinong of Maui; sisters Patrocinio Ibrao and Brigida Cheng both of the Philippines; seven grandchildren; numerous, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Viewing from 8 to 9:30 a.m., Mass at 10 a.m., on Saturday, July 31, at Immaculate Conception Church. Burial will follow at Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens.

Geraldine Largo Kawamura of Waimea died July 20, 2010, at her home at age 62. Born on April 12, 1948, in Kahului, Maui, she was a general cashier with Marriott Waiohai Beach Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents Jesus and Bisitasion Largo; brother Napolean Jamero; sisters Judy Hanohano and Dolly Baybayan.

Marlene Kehaulani Burgess of Kahului died June 23, 2010, at Maui Memorial Medical Center at age 48. Born on Jun 5, 1962, she was a program executive director for the Office of Economic Development on Maui.
Preceded in death by her parents James K.A. Burgess and Lorraine K. Burgess, she is survived by her companion Thomas Hussey; brothers Milton (Judy) Burgess, James (Glennie) Burgess and Kimo (Josephine Okuno) Burgess; and sister Faith (Frank Cummings) Burgess.
Visitation at 10 a.m., service at 11 a.m., on Saturday, Aug. 7, at Kapa‘a First Hawaiian Church.
