LIHU‘E — A 45-year-old homeless man suffered serious injuries after being hit by a car while crossing Kuhio Highway in Lihu‘e Tuesday night, a county news release states.
He was medevaced to The Queen’s Medical Center on O‘ahu early Wednesday morning.
The man was attempting to cross Kuhio Highway at around 7:30 p.m., going from the old Oki Diner to the other side of the street, when he was hit by a silver Toyota Camry traveling north in the outer lane, according to a preliminary report.
The man was not in a marked crosswalk, the release states.
He was taken to Wilcox Memorial Hospital for treatment and later flown to Queen’s.
