LIHU‘E — Sharon Pomroy and James Yamamoto are the Kaua‘i members of the 32-member Hawaiian Islands Humpback Whale National Marine Sanctuary Advisory Council, states an agency press release.
Former South Shore resident Terry O’Halloran, who was also a spokesperson for Hawai‘i Superferry, is one of two new O‘ahu representatives.
Established in 1996, the volunteer panel provides recommendations on managing and protecting humpback whales.
The council includes 16 government and 16 non-governmental representatives who serve two-year terms and meet several times a year in public sessions.
