LIHU‘E — St. Catherine School teachers and church parishioners recently gathered to honor Kaua‘i teacher Patricia McDonald for her many years of dedication to St. Catherine School, states a press release.
The group met for fellowship and food to celebrate the positive impact she has had on her students, the release states.
McDonald has been the third-grade teacher at St. Catherine School for 10 years. She is extremely popular with the students and their parents because of her ability to make learning fun, the release states. Her third graders have traveled around the world, time-traveled back into ancient times and ventured into outer space without ever leaving the classroom.
Her room was always decorated from floor to ceiling with student work, multiple bulletin-board displays, posters, books, artifacts, holiday decorations and student-made arts and crafts. Her third graders also took pride in having the only class flower garden outside their room.
Although she won’t be returning to St. Catherine School this school year, she maintains and encourages a positive sense of humor.
McDonald positively impacted many young lives on Kaua‘i and is sad her teaching career has come to an end, but she knows that each of her former students carry a little part of her with them throughout their school years and into adulthood, she said.
