Caroline Julian of former state Sen. Norman Sakamoto’s office learned about something that was not on the agenda, Thursday. She was wrapping up the Kaua‘i Chamber of Commerce forum of some of the Democratic lieutenant governor candidates and saw all the feral parrots returning to their roost on the royal palms outside the Kaua‘i War Memorial Convention Hall.
Keahi Tucker did an excellent job moderating the event and all six candidates did well with the questions culled by the chamber (must be Braxton Parongao at work).
It was another media event, and County Councilwoman Lani Kawahara got J Robertson to interrupt a conversation with former state Rep. Jon Riki Karamatsu so she could talk about her experience digging out freshly hatched sea turtles at the U.S. Navy Pacific Missile Range Facility (did Jay Pugh get any pix?).
Congratulations to Ed Ford and Myles Emura on snagging that 71-pound big boy off Po‘ipu Beach Park…the sight of the big black ulua had everybody looking and Ed lost little time getting the green onions from his garden cut for the post-event sampling.
OK, time to go check out how Kalani Vierra and the Kaua‘i Junior Lifeguards do at the state championships.
