Naea Oda and Kalau Tanaka-Pesamino finished in a tie for the lead in the Girls “A” Flight at the Kaua‘i Junior Golf Association 2010 Summer Challenge recently at the Princeville Makai golf course.
Both girls ended the round with 96 followed by Jenae Park (117) and Kari Whitworth (119) for the leaderboard in the Girls “A” Flight.
Taylor Viquelia, showing strong during the 2010 Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation season, topped the Girls Championship bracket with a 79, two strokes ahead of Daezsa Tomas (81), another strong KIF golfer. Kyra Whitworth finished third in the bracket with an 88.
Pono Tokioka, one of the leading KJGA golfers and strong in the KIF, topped the Boys 15-18 Championship with a 75, four strokes ahead of Justin Uegawa, a KIF golfer with Kapa‘a High School.
Levi Miyashiro and Braedon Robley tied for third in the bracket with 82 followed by Reyn Morioka (91) and Daniel Miller (96).
Bryden Salvador topped the Boys 13-14 Championship group with an 81, five strokes ahead of Kenji Miyata (86), La‘akea Warren (89), and KC Loo (94).
Matthias Davis, coming off a strong Kaua‘i Inline Hockey Association season, had his clubs in order, carding a 97 to top the Boys 13-14 “A” Flight. Vance Tokita (110), Landen Ishida (114), and Michael Miller (136) rounded out that flight’s leaderboard.
Trevor Kua topped the Boys 10-12 Championship flight on an 88, two strokes ahead of Kainalu Gandia who filled the runner-up spot at 90. Reece Valencia followed a stroke back at 91 with Keith Jose rounding out the leaders at 109.
Logan Gibson was two strokes better than Rilen Loo at 92 in the Boys 10 and Under Championship round. Loo finished at 94.
James Pratt topped the Boys 10 and Under “A” Flight with 119 followed by Christian Ganir at 126.
The next KJGA tournament is the Back to School Tournament hosted by the Kaua‘i Lagoons golf course, Aug. 15 with the first tee time scheduled for noon.
