Abel Souza Sr.
Abel John Souza Sr. of Kapa‘a died July 30, 2010, at his home at age 65. Born on April 11, 1945, in O‘ahu, he was a retired foreman with Aina Site Construction.
He is survived by his wife Marlyn “Hoku” Souza of Kapa‘a; son Abel (Vanessa) Souza Jr.; daughters Michelle (Matt) Reis, Kimberly Souza and Brenda Souza, all of Kapa‘a; stepsons Sonny (Lopeka) Kelekoma of Waianae and Shawn Kelekoma of Kapa‘a; stepdaughters Shantel “Telly” Kelekoma and Sharnal “Naka” Kelekoma of Kapa‘a; brother Bernard (Sally) Ancheta of California; sister Ramona (Jim) Yang of California; 24 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m., service to follow, on Saturday, Aug. 28, at Borthwick Kaua‘i Mortuary Chapel. Burial at Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens. Family suggests casual or aloha attire.
Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick Kaua‘i Mortuary.
Shanrae Donovan
Shanrae K. Donovan of Kalaheo died August 14, 2010, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at age 18. Born on Feb. 19, 1992, in Lihu‘e, she was a student.
She is survived by her mother Anne Punohu of Kalaheo; sister Seanne Donovan-Richards of Kalaheo; numerous aunties, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Visitation at noon., service at 2 p.m., Friday, Aug. 27; burial to follow at Lihu‘e Cemetery.
Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick Kaua‘i Mortuary.
Haruko Hirano
Haruko Hirano of ‘Ele‘ele died July 16, 2010, at Hale Kupuna Heritage Home at age 97. She was born Jan. 10, 1913, in Lawa‘i.
She is survived by husband, Fusao: son, Robert (June) Hirano of Honolulu; daughters, Joy Oshiro of Honolulu, Shirley Kodani of Maui and Alice Yamauchi of Honolulu; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brother, takeshi Onuma of Kaua‘i; sister, Clara Saik of Honolulu; nieces and nephews.
Services were private.
Arrangements are being handled by: Garden Island Mortuary.
Vincent Buono
Vincent Joseph Buono of Kapa‘a died Aug. 21, 2010, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at age 79. Born on March 27, 1931, in Coney Island, N.Y., he was retired from construction and co-owned Tropic Casuals, Kaua‘i Casuals and Garden Isle Clothing.
He is survived by his wife Elsie of Kapa‘a; son Michael (Debra) Buono; daughter Holly (George) Simon; stepchildren Dino (Dennis) Oshiro, William Timothy (Rose ) Carillo, Duane “Doozy” (Judi) Carillo; sister Miranda (Marwan) Kashou; grandchildren Chrissy Gorospe, Kala, La’akea and Poai Oshiro, Julie (Billy) Zietz, Malia Sheldon, Jon Buono, Joshua (Nathalie) Rivera, Jonah Rivera, Vincent Simon, Christopher (Mae) Simon, Jessica Simon, Kiana (Tyer) Palea, Brandee (kaki) Carrillo, Melissa Brewer, Kaisen and Kailee Carrillo; 10 great-grandchildren; one niece; three nephews and a very special pet “Tipsy.”
Visitation is at 10 a.m. with services to follow on Sept. 4 at Assembly of God.

James Page
James “Jim” Gordon Page of Hanapepe died Aug. 21, 2010, at his home at age 68. Born on Sept. 2, 1941, in O‘ahu, he was an architect and artist.
He is survived by wife Judith Page of Hanapepe; sons Seth (Erin) Page, Ethan (Camille) Page; and three grandchildren.
Celebration of life on Friday, Aug. 27, at sunset at Salt Pond Beach Park, Hanapepe.
Samuel Peters
Samuel “Uncle Buddy” Lani Peters died on Aug. 19, 2010, at his residence in Kapa‘a at age 67. Born on January 12, 1943 in Honolulu, he was a dry waller and buisness owner of Wailua Kayak & Canoe.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Nellie Peters, and sister, Eloise Oclit.
He is survived by his wife, Catherine Peters, of Kapa‘a; daughters, Tammy Toban, Denise “Tita” Kauihou, KulaManu (T.J.) Marshman and Kaiulani (Bronson) Lovell; hanai daughter, Keahi Verdusco; hanai son, Nakana Duarte; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
