Cristeta Delos Santos
Cristeta Butac Delos Santos of Hanama‘ulu died at Straub Clinic & Hospital on Sept. 14, 2010, at the age of 79. She was born in Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte, Philippines on July 7, 1931, and retired from the Westin Hotel.
Preceded in death by her husband, Benigno Delos Santos Sr., parents, Cirilo and Cirila Baloloy Butac, brother, Apolonio Butac, and sister, Policarpia Magarro, she is survived by two sons, Benigno “Ben” (Mevliha) Delos Santos Jr. of Bosnia and Billy Delos Santos of Kaua‘i; three daughters: Criscilia (Randall) Schaal of O‘ahu, Normalynn Delos Santos and Adeline “Mona” (Charlie) Balilea; brother Norberto Butac; sisters Isabel Manegdeg, Sirapia Luzano and Erminia Lagundino, all of the Philippines; four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, sister-in-law Feliciana Butac of Kaua‘i, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, Oct. 9, 2010 at Immaculate Conception Church, with visitation from 8 to 9:45 a.m. and Mass celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens.

Sarah Cantu Cadena of Lihu‘e died peacefully at home on Sept. 29, 2010 at the age of 80. She was born in Mexico on July 20, 1930 and was a dedicated homemaker.
She is survived by her daughter, Yolanda “Lani” (Juan) Lugo of Lihu‘e; grandson, Martin (Tese) Lugo of ‘Oma‘o; great-grandsons Kamalei Lugo and Kawika Lugo, both of ‘Oma‘o; step-great-grandchildren Kimo Ceria of ‘Oma‘o, Kalei Ceria of California, Tyrus Ceria of ‘Oma‘o and Katie Ceria of ‘Oma‘o.
Scattering of her cremains will be held in Arizona.

James Harris
James Howard Harris of Lihu‘e died at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on Sept. 28, 2010 at the age of 67. He was born in Columbia, S.C. on Feb. 24, 1943 and was an entrepreneur of bars and restaurants.
Preceded in death by his parents John and Susan Harris and daughter Ana Harris, he is survived by his wife, Rose Harris of Lihu‘e; four children: James “Scott” (Renee) Harris of Nevada, Elizabeth Harris of California, Benjamin Harris of California, Allison Harris of California; hanai son Michael (Judy) Sauer of California; stepdaughter Debra Girald of Lihu‘e; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Henry and Violet Ferreira; grandchildren Garrett, Gatlin, DeMarea, Samantha, A.J. and Madison.
Services will be held at a later date.

Masayo Watamura
Masayo Watamura of Los Angeles, Calif. died Sept. 13, 2010 at Keiro Nursing Home in Los Angeles. Born on Kaua‘i, she was 88.
She is survived by her son, Roy Mamoru Jr (Vicky) Watamura; daughters Ann (Wilbur) Fukuzaki, Pat (Lynn) Kaneshiro and Carol (Jerald) Nasu; six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; sisters Michan Mizuo, Hazel Park and Betty-Robyn Ross; nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Private services were held on Sunday, Sept. 19, 2010 at Fukui Mortuary “Chapel in the Garden,” in Los Angeles.
Her final internment will be at the All Saints Church columbarium in Kapa‘a.
Beatrice Tamm
Beatrice Faye Tamm of Lihu‘e died at The Regency at Puakea on Sept. 22, 2010, at age 85. Born Oct. 23, 1924, in Ashland, Wis., she was a self-employed seamstress and clothes designer.
She is survived by her husband, Ralph Tamm of Lihu‘e; two sons, Richard (Camila) Hipsack of Kalaheo, Bradley (Margaret) Tamm of Honolulu; daughter Charlene (Michael) Tamm Barnes of New Jersey; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A private memorial service was held.

Chosei Tamashiro
Chosei Tamashiro of Kapa‘a passed away on Sept. 18, 2010 at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 85. Born on Maui Dec. 4, 1924, he was a postman for U.S. government.
Preceded in death by his parents, Chotaro and Kame Tamashiro, and brothers, Choye and Masanobu Tamashiro, he is survived by brothers Chokichi (Sueko) Tamashiro and Susumu (Joyce) Tamashiro; and sisters Yoshiko (Shikisei) Awakuni, Kimie (Jack) Nojima and Toyoko (Edwin) Lee.
Private services were held. Borthwick Kaua‘i Mortuary in Koloa assisted the family with arrangements.
Karma Knudsen
Karma Christensen Knudsen of Koloa died Sept. 21, 2010, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at age 72. Born June 10, 1938, in Provo, Utah, she was a spiritual writer and cattle rancher.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Valdemar Knudsen of Koloa.
She is survived by her bothers: Marty, Lynn and Richard Rasmussen; sisters, Evelyn, Elaine and Shawna of Utah; sons, Clint Prescott of Kaua‘i and John Adkins of Koloa; daughters Lori Prescott of Kaua‘i, Sheryl Prescott and Ronnie Walker of Spokane, Wash., and Annalena (Dewey) Thompson of La Jolla, Calif.; daughter-in-law, Margaret Prescott of Kalaheo; grandchildren Malia (Gross) Gall, Shane Prescott and Lea Prescott from Kalaheo; Keoni Adkins, Aubry, Zachary and Brandy of Washington; Tiare and Alexa Thompson of La Jolla, Calif.; great-grandsons, Nathan and Noah Gall of Kalaheo; and numerous nieces and nephews of Utah.
A celebration of her life for friends and relatives will be held on Saturday, Oct. 2, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Kalaheo where services will begin at 12:30 p.m. The family requests casual attire be worn. A potluck and memorial celebration will be held at Po‘ipu Beach Park after the church service from 2:30 p.m. to sunset for family and friends.

Peggy Alao Basuel of Hanama‘ulu died peacefully at home on Sept. 23, 2010, at age 62. Born Sept. 3, 1948, in Lihu‘e, she was employed by Puakea Golf Course as a waitress.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Rosella Alao.
She is survived by her daughter, Adela (Jon) Basuel of Oregon; grandson, Jaeden Victor-Basuel; brothers Dennis Alao of Lihu‘e, Larry (Penni) Alao of California, Rudy (Marilyn) Alao of Kalaheo, Eric (Jeri) Alao of O‘ahu, Quintin (Nicole) Alao of Lihu‘e, Gaivin (Gemma) Alao of Lihu‘e, and Vince (Essie) Alao of Lihu‘e; sisters, Lydia (John) Schornack of O‘ahu, Rena (Bleu) Ulanday of Lihu‘e, Janise (Kevin) Gusman of O‘ahu, Norma Alao of Lihu‘e, Zelda (Nolan) Alvarado of O‘ahu; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
