Santos Udarbe
Santos V. Udarbe of Waimea died on Sept. 8, 2010, at KVMH at age 82. Born Nov. 1, 1927 in the Philippines, he was a retired longshoreman in San Francisco, Calif.
He was preceded in death by parents Roman and Primitiva Udarbe, brother Arsenio Udarbe and sister Alejandra Udarbe.
He is survived by wife Julie Udarbe; stepdaughter Suzara (Eric) Viloria; brothers Silvestre (Ella) Udarbe of Kekaha, Instanislao (Ceferina) Udarbe of Kekaha and Juan (Lucking) Udarbe of the Philippines; sisters Bernanda Udarbe of the Philippines and Uliana (Boy) Gagto of the Philippines; grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of his life will be on Sept. 25 at St. Theresa Parish Church in Kekaha. Visitation and viewing form 8 to 10 a.m.; Mass at 10 a.m.; officiated by Fr. Danilo Galang. Burial will follow at Hanapepe Veterans Cemetery.
Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick Mortuary Chapel in Koloa.

Jacob Kaoahi “Kopa” Olanolan Maka of Ha‘ena died Sept. 13, 2010, at age 63 at Samuel Mahelona Memorial Hospital. Born on Dec. 26, 1946, in Ha‘ena, he was a heavy equipment operator with the Operating Engineers Local Union No. 3.
He was preceded in death by his son, Jacob Kaoahi Maka Jr.; sisters, Tiare Clifford Olanolan, Maydene Leina‘ala Olanolan Paik, Lynette DeLima and Bernie Mahuiki; brother, Sam Alapai; and mother, Myra Gross.
He is survived by his daughter, Nani (Kolu) Valpoon; grandsons, Cody and Joshua Mersberg; caregivers, Shelby Ann, Ekolu, Kaulana, Kaimi and Keanu Yokotake; brothers, Kenneth (Sharon) Olanolan, Michael (Karen) Olanolan, Wendal (Annie) Olanolan, Dexter Chung, Walter Chung Jr., Wesley (Michell) Olanolan, Gregory (Beulah) Olanolan, Nathan (Gail) Olanolan, Ronald Olanolan and Nacacio Gabay; sisters, Vivian Olanolan, Sheila (Mackey) DeSilva, Debra (June) Manuel, Kathy Olanolan and Winona Hussey; brothers-in-law, Abner DeLima, James Paik, Jr. and Samson Mahuiki, Sr.; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, uncles and aunties.
Visitation at 9 a.m., services at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 2, at Wai‘oli Hui‘ia Church in Hanalei.

Philip Eliana Sr.
Philip Canencia Eliana Sr. of Hanama‘ulu died Aug. 21, 2010, at The Queen’s Medical Center on O‘ahu at age 89. Born Feb. 15, 1921, in Waipahu, O‘ahu, he retired as a heavy equipment operator.
He was preceded in death by wife Trinidad Eliana and son Byron Eliana.
He is survived by three sons, Sterling (Ethelyn) Eliana of Guam, Ruben (Lita) Eliana of California and Philip (Marlene) Eliana Jr. of Kaua‘i; daughters, Sheila Daluz of Colorado, Francine (Walter) Gatan of Guam and Trinette Hepa of Kaua‘i; 19 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
Friends may visit with the family from 5 to 9 p.m., Monday, Sept. 27, at the family home, 4227 Hanama‘ulu Rd., and again from 8 to 9:45 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 28, at Immaculate Conception Church where Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens.

Janet Yuriko Mizuuchi
Janet Yuriko Mizuuchi of O‘ahu and Kaua‘i died Sept. 16, 2010, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at age 61. She was born on March 30, 1949, in Honolulu.
She is survived by her husband, Gary M. Mizuuchi; uncles, aunts and cousins.
Services will be held at a later date in Honolulu.

Brenda K.C. Martin of Kapa‘a died Sept. 13, 2010 at her home at the age of 45. Born on October 18, 1964 in Hilo, she was a Senior Account Clerk with the County of Kaua‘i.
She is survived by her husband, Edson; daughter Bree; parents Christian (Connie) Chang of Lihue; brothers Sonny Chang, Koko Chang and Kevin Chang all of Lihue; sisters Verna (Donald “Moki”) Okami and Tanya (Ferdinand) Dosono both of Lihue; father in law Edward Martin; mother in law Wendalen Gonzalez;grandma Laura Martin; Aunty Sylvia Bertleman; brother in law Tony Gonzalez;sister in law Dawn Bridgeman;numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 25 at Breath of Life in the Lihue Rice Shopping Center; service at 10 a.m. Casual attire.

Haruo Horita
Haruo Horita of Lawa‘i died Sept. 11, 2010, at Regency at Puakea at age 91. Born on Jan. 1, 1919, in Koloa, he was an electrical contractor.
He is survived by his son, Dennis (Vivian) of Lawa‘i; daughters, Gwen Ching and Annette (Glen) Choi, both of Aiea, O‘ahu; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services were private.
Russel DeSilva
Russel Roger Keone DeSilva of Kapa‘a died on Sept. 18, 2010, at age 34. He was born in Lihu‘e on Aug. 10, 1976, and was a self-employed upholsterer.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Manuel DeSilva III.
He is survived by his wife, Tamee DeSilva; daughter, Tiffany DeSilva, Sons, Russel-Isaiah DeSilva and Dylan DeSilva; parents, Macky and Sheila DeSilva; brother, Michael (Dawn) DeSilva; paternal grandmother, Hilda DeSilva; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Dennis and Parmalee Dato; paternal grandmother-in-law, Fusako Dato; numerous aunties, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Family and friends are invited to join in fellowship and celebration of DeSilva’s life at 6471 Kawaihau Road in Kapahi on Saturday, Sept. 25, at 10 a.m.

Pia Cadavona Visitacion died Aug. 28, 2010, at Straub Hospital at age 83. Born July 11, 1927, in Bacarra, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, she was a retired employee at Green Garden Restaurant.
She was preceded in death by husband Pedro Vistacion and daughter Trinidad Visitacion Goodrich.
She is survived by son Marcy (Dolly) Visitacion of Las Vegas, Nev.; daughters Esther (Clarence) Estes of Waimea and Carmen (Roland) Rivera of Lawa‘i; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; sisters Flora Ramelb of Puhi and Melchora Balisacan of ‘Ele‘ele.
Service will be on Saturday, Sept. 25, at Holy Cross Church, Kalaheo. Visitation is 9 to 10 a.m. with Mass at 10 a.m. and burial at Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens.
Family request casual attire and flowers are accepted.

Richard Teragawa
Richard Kazuto Teragawa of Hanapepe died peacefully Sept. 17, 2010, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital surrounded by family and friends at age 79. Born on May 14, 1931, in Waimea, Kaua‘i, he was co-owner of Kaua‘i Energetic, Ltd., a retired engineer from SOH-DAGS, and a Korean War veteran.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Akino Teragawa.
He is survived by his wife, Gwendolyn Teragawa; daughters, Iris Akemi (Marvin) Hesapene of Hanapepe, Tammy Michie (Brian) Kuniyoshi of Honolulu, Rachelle Kimie (Mark) Mararagan of Honolulu and Ginny Naomi (Blaine) Agena of Hanapepe; 11 grandchildren; brother, George (Amy) Teragawa of San Francisco, Calif.; sister, Kathleen (Bob) Oshiro of Honolulu; brother-in-law, Wendel (Karen) Ishida of Kalaheo; sister-in-law, Lyndel (Wilfred) Chikahiro of Lawa‘i.

Wallace Kiyoshi Hasegawa Curtis of Ewa Beach, O‘ahu, died Aug. 26, 2010, at Hawai‘i Medical Center-West at age 63. He was born in Honolulu and spent parts of his childhood on Kaua‘i.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Winifred Kaloke Kealohanui Curtis and Wallace Kiyoshi Hasegawa; an infant brother; uncles, Paul and James Hasegawa; and aunts, Gladys Fujii and Jeanette Santos.
He is survived by a sister, Beverly Ann Curtis Manini (Joseph) of Waimea, Kaua‘i; uncles, Masao (Virginia) and Kunio Hasegawa of Kalaheoi; aunt, Beatrice (Todaichi) Kanda of ‘Ele‘ele; numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.
A private family service will be held later this month.
