LIHU‘E — Jessie and Woody of “Toy Story” made it in time for the Kaua‘i County Farm Bureau Fair, and due to popular demand, made an encore appearance at Toddler Thursday at the Kukui Grove Center.
“She loves to dance,” said the care provider for Kamalei Gabriel, who won the title of Miss Babycakes at the 14th Annual Meadow Gold Healthy Baby contest at the fair.
“We saw them at the fair, and came to dance with them.”
The Showtime Characters were a highlight of the Meadow Gold and McDonald’s Keiki Olympics and Entertainment program at the fair, and based on calls, made an appearance at Kukui Grove Center Thursday.
“We’ll have Showtime Characters at Toddler Thursday,” said Stel Pimental, a Showtime Character spokesperson who narrated Thursday’s show. “There is a show followed by an opportunity to have photos taken with the characters.”
Toddler Thursday runs from 11 a.m. to noon weekly and features activities by Circles of Light leading up to the show which starts at 11:30 a.m.
“It’s lessons, but it’s fun,” said Faye Newfield, program coordinator for Circles of Light.
“We have different activities for keiki and toddlers with their parents to have the child learn different skills. This is done in partnership with the Kukui Grove and started in March.”
One of the security personnel at the mall said the event has been gaining attendance each week as more people find out about it.
Circles of Light is an organization committed to celebrating and honoring that bright potential and sacred wholeness in all people in communities across the globe.
Circles of Light will be hosting a fundraising concert for its children’s arts programs on Sept. 10 starting at 7 p.m. at the Kaua‘i War Memorial Convention Hall in Lihu‘e, states its website.
Junior Keuewa Jr. will provide an evening of music, comedy, ventriloquism and hula.
Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the door with children 12 and under accompanied by an adult admitted free.
