Wallace Tavares
Wallace Michael Tavares of O‘ahu and Kaua‘i died Aug. 22, 2010, on O‘ahu, at the age of 38. Born on Jan. 31, 1972, he was employed with Kahukai Landscaping.
Preceded in death by grandfather Joseph Tavares, he is survived by son Hunter Tavares; parents Wally and Dinah Aquino Tavares; brother Warren (Tasha) Tavares; paternal grandmother Angela Tavares; and maternal grandparents Chuck and Mildred Fernandez; and one niece, cousins, aunts and uncles.
Celebration of life Saturday, Sept. 4, 2010 at Holy Cross Church in Kalaheo, with visitation from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., with Mass at 11 a.m.
Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick Kaua‘i Mortuary.
Jose Gante
Jose R. Gante of Makaweli died on Aug. 29, 2010 at Hale Kupuna Heritage Home at the age of 99. Born Aug. 5, 1911 in the Philippines, he was a laborer with a sugar plantation.
He is survived by wife Carmaleta Gante; daughters Josie (Dennis) Addington and Angela (Richard) Ramsey; sons Norman (Rosane) Gante and Cullen Gante; eight grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation at 9 a.m., service at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2010, at the Borthwick Kaua‘i Mortuary chapel in Koloa, with burial to follow at the Hanapepe Public Cemetery.
Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick Kaua‘i Mortuary in Koloa.
Moyo Rapanot
Moyo Rapanot of Kekaha died on Aug. 23, 2010 at Kaua‘i Care Center at age 84. She was born on May 13, 1926 in Waimea, and was a housewife.
Preceded in death by husband Marcelo Ragocos, parents Yamataro and Yone Nishiyama, sister Yayo Tanioka and grandchildren Kevin Ragocos and Mark Ragocos, she is survived by sons Cipriano (Nora) Ragocos, Burt (Angie) Rapanot and Brian (Elaine) Rapanot, all of Kekaha; daughters Jill (Dennis) Gerken of Houston, Texas, Rachel (Jody) Alvarez of Kekaha, Karen (Wesley) Yadao of Kekaha, Mila (Royce) Rapanot of Kekaha and Theresa (Daron) Nakata of Hanapepe; 17 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, sister Sachie Otoman of Kekaha and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services are Friday, Sept. 10, 2010 at St. Theresa’s Church in Kekaha, with visitation from 1:30 to 3 p.m., and Mass at 3 p.m. Burial will follow at Kekaha Public Cemetery.
The family requests casual attire.

Henry Santiago
Henry Santiago died Aug. 30, 2010 at his home at age 74. He was born Feb. 21, 1936 in Kapa‘a.
He is survived by wife Rosita A. Santiago; sons Leonard (Lena) Fabro of O‘ahu, Michael (Ernestine) of Virginia; Jeffrey (Radine) Fabro of Waimea and Eric (fiancee Carrie) Santiago of Koloa; daughter Erlinda (Jamie) Rogers of O‘ahu; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brother Louis Castillo of O‘ahu; sisters, Rose Santiago of Lana‘i, Amelia McCabe of Oklahoma, Solena (Edward) Guerrero of Kaua‘i and Ramona Belliveau of Tennessee; numerous nieces and nephews.
Services are Saturday, Sept. 4, 2010 at St. Theresa’s Church in Kekaha, with visitation at 9 a.m. and Mass at 11 a.m. Internment will follow at 1 p.m. at Kaua‘i Veterans Cemetery in Hanapepe.
The family requests casual attire and that flowers be omitted.
