LIHU‘E — Registrations for the Hawai‘i Second Annual National Fallen Firefighters Foundation Memorial Golf Tournament are currently being accepted.
The tournament will be played on Kaua‘i at the Kiahuna Golf Club on Nov. 18 and registration forms are available at all Kaua‘i fire stations, or by calling Jason at 639-7168, or Oric at 652-3317, a press release states.
Registration fee is $125 per person, and there will be a limit of 144 golfers accepted at the event hosted by the Hawai‘i Fire Chiefs Association. Deadline for registration is Oct. 15.
Proceeds benefit the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation, an organization created by the United States Congress to lead a nationwide effort to remember America’s fallen firefighters.
Since 1992, the tax-exempt, nonprofit foundation has developed and expanded programs to honor the nation’s fallen fire heroes and assist their families and co-workers of fallen firefighters, a release from the Kaua‘i Fire Department states.
The National Fallen Firefighters Foundation Memorial Golf Tournament has grown to include 50 regional golf tournaments held across the country on behalf of the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation.
Tournaments help the foundation continue its support for families and co-workers.
When a firefighter dies in the line of duty, the foundation provides survivors with a place to turn, receiving emotional assistance through a Fire Service Survivors Network which matches survivors with similar experiences and circumstances.
Additionally, families receive a quarterly newsletter and specialized grief publications.
