Tucked in Princeville Shopping Center for the last 14 years, Paradise Bar & Grill thrives with a solid reputation among locals and tourists.
The food, made with lots of local produce, hits the spot every time. But the drinks are pretty good too.
Co-owner Tim Grooms blends a perfect chocolate and peppermint “Adult Milk Shake.”
Several surfboards, dating from the 1920s to the present day, adorn the surf-themed restaurant. On the walls, pictures of monster waves show what Kaua‘i is really about — hardcore surfing.
Some tourists can’t help but touch some of the many surfboards. Locals definitely feel at home in a place that reflects Kaua‘i’s surfing culture so well.
It just couldn’t be any other way, after all, Tim has been a surfer all of his life.
Tim’s daughters, Magen and Kali, pretty much grew up in the restaurant. They used to peel potatoes in the back of the house, and now wait tables there. Kali is a heck of a photographer, too, and her prints are for sale at the restaurant.
Paradise Bar & Grill is open seven days a week, from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., serving breakfast, lunch and dinner.
