HONOLULU — A 73-year-old Kaua‘i man has been sentenced to eight years and one month in prison for molesting a girl aboard an airplane in 2003.
U.S. District Judge Alan Kay on Wednesday also ordered Curtis Keith Cooper of Princeville to serve five years of supervised release after he gets out of prison.
Cooper pleaded guilty in April to aggravated sexual abuse of a minor under the age of 12 within the special aircraft jurisdiction of the U.S.
According to court documents, the girl was seated next to Cooper on a flight from Hawai‘i to California when she started to fall asleep with a blanket over her.
The documents say Cooper admitted reaching under the blanket and touching the girl inappropriately without her consent.
