KAPA‘A – Kaua‘i police are investigating three burglaries that happened early Sunday morning in Kapa‘a, a county news release states.
The first incident took place at the Plantation Hale between 3 and 4 a.m. where five women were sleeping in a unit. One of them awoke and saw a man running toward the back screen door. The woman immediately checked their belongings and discovered that some items were missing, including cash. She told police that the suspect fled on foot and described him as having long curly hair and a thin build, the release states.
Another burglary occurred at Kaua‘i Marine and Mower between 3:44 and 3:50 a.m. In that incident, the suspect apparently drove his pick-up truck into the front door to gain entry and stole two generators. He then drove away from the scene, the release states.
The third burglary Sunday was at the Kaua‘i Sands Hotel, although the exact time has not been determined. A German woman who was alone in a ground floor unit reported that when she awoke at approximately 4:30 a.m., she discovered that her bag containing U.S. and German currency along with her passport was missing.
Some of the items that were taken from the Plantation Hale and Kaua‘i Sands Hotel were later found in the area between these two hotels.
Anyone with information about any of these incidents is urged to call Police Dispatch at 241-1711 or Crime Stoppers, 241-1887. Crime Stoppers is a nonprofit that offers cash rewards of up to $1,000 to anyone furnishing anonymous information that leads to an arrest.
