Simon and Garfunkel should come to town more often as Marty and Carol Kahn joined the Nawiliwili Yacht Club races with heavy pupu at the jetty wall before attending the A.J. Swearingen and Jonathan Beedle event, Thursday.
Roberta Cable had a guest in tow and learned how to “suck da head” of a Kekaha Shrimp with Nancy Kanna, Wednesday, and then was at the race to cheer on Papa‘au, Thursday.
Happy birthday, Mayor Bernard Carvalho Jr. and Shastin Snyder, who both have the same special date! The mayor was enjoying his special day with Bev Brody and the Walking School Bus (they recruited Brent Mizutani to be a ‘bus driver’).
Bill Arakaki was walking, and Mina Morita lost her owner of a jacket when he moved to the front of the bus. Derek Kawakami got to walk his daughter to school, and Nadine Nakamura came with her bicycle, but Reece decided he’d rather stay on campus.
Lyle Bjork was making sure there was enough macaroni salad, and Gwen Hamabata said there’s togan (winter melon) in the chicken, and pig’s feet soups. Check out the Bento Bakko, Etc. at the Hanapepe United Church of Christ, where the sign says “Soul food served here.”
