Shiego Masukawa of Lihu‘e died Oct. 10, 2010, at the Garden Island HealthCare at age 90. Born April 4, 1920, in Waimea, O‘ahu, he was a self-employed farmer and also worked with Pioneer Hi-Bred.
He is survived by wife Tsukiko Masukawa, Jeannette Furuta of Honolulu and Gale Masukawa-Kashuba of Lihu‘e; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sisters Asako Ebata of Koloa, Aiko Tottori of Aiea and Kimi Kawahara of San Mateo; numerous nieces and nephews.
Services were private.
Arrangements are were handled by Garden Island Mortuary, Ltd.
David Burgess
David Colin Burgess of Kalaheo died at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on Oct. 8, 2010, at age 80. Born in Montreal, Canada, on Aug. 16, 1930, he retired as a service manager with Sears Roebuck and Co.
He is survived by his wife, Marlene Burgess of Kalaheo; son, Colin (Debbie) Burgess of Missouri; step-children, Donna (Jim) Hubert, Karen Goward and Cindy (Johnny) Francis, all of California; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
A celebration of his life will be held on Thursday, Oct. 21, at Kaua‘i Veterans Cemetery at 2 p.m. Reception to follow at Joe’s on the Green in Po‘ipu.
