LIHU‘E — An American Association of Retired Persons driver-safety class is Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the AARP Information Center on Kuhio Highway behind the Shell gas station, a press release states.
It is the first class offered in some time, as the local AARP chapter lost its driver-safety instructors, said Deana Shelby, president of AARP Chapter 654.
Due to the generosity of the AARP state office, an instructor will fly to Kaua‘i from O‘ahu for the class, she said in an e-mail.
“We can’t be sure when we will have another class,” she said, adding that those who have been putting off taking the class should try to attend Saturday if they are available.
Those successfully passing the class could qualify for lower auto-insurance rates.
