This is the time of the year when Nellie Okamoto celebrates her birthday, since today is the Kaua‘i United Way walkathon.
Janis Benn of Kaua‘i Habitat for Humanity said Mark Pressly, team leader for the Global Village group that arrived here Thursday, will be walking in the walk, having the day off from building houses.
Ron Wiley (he was at the Hawai‘i Visitor Industry Charity Walk check-distribution event Thursday) had the sole winning Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation entry in The Football Frenzy, but it wasn’t Elvis who helped him this time. How does Ron do it?
If you ask Billy DeCosta (he was at the boys under-14 American Youth Soccer Organization Region 940 Westside championships at Hanapepe Stadium Wednesday), this week is Kaua‘i High School all the way because Billy said Mike Tresler is “the greatest coach of all time!”
Hats off to Ross Shimabukuro, Darryl Izumo and all their support staff for doing a great job with the Billy Tees Hawai‘i High School Athletic Association State Bowling Championships (is that correct, Natalie Iwamoto?). The Lihu‘e Bowling Center is smashed, there is no parking anywhere, and everybody is talking Hamura Saimin.
OK, time to check out the Kaua‘i High School homecoming and the Nawiliwili Yacht Club’s Halloween race.
Happy Halloween! Stay safe!
