Coach William Trugillo rallied the boys from the West to a 2-0 second-half edge over the Westside Falcons Under 10 squad to take the division title in the Kaua‘i Soccer Association championships at the North Vidinha fields.
Coming from a 0-0 halftime deadlock, Conor Hunt found the net early off the break for a close-range goal. Nicky Semblante chipped in a second goal midway through the half to put the game out of reach.
Fans were treated to spectacular soccer as tight games were the norm for the day, the Westside Falcons U12 taking a 1-0 edge over the Kaua‘i Sparks for the title of the KSA Under 12 division.
In equally competitive play, Danielle Allianic proved to be the winning edge for GIFC-BU14 in overtime, giving the orangeshirts a 1-0 win over the KSC-Blazing Angels for the Under 14 division title.
With the division title tucked away under its belt, the Team Onipa‘a will embark on an O‘ahu trip to participate in a Thanksgiving soccer tournament at the Waipio complex.
