Reservations for play on the renovated Po‘ipu Bay Golf Course are currently being accepted.
The first tee times are for Dec. 16, the re-opening date for the golf course that has been closed since April 1 to undergo a comprehensive greens refurbishment project.
One of those refurbishment features replaced the original Tifdwarf Bermuda grass with a Seashore Paspalum hybrid, Supreme, that has proven to be an optimum putting surface in Hawai‘i, states a release.
Po‘ipu Bay Golf Course announced its rates for the coming year, starting with a standard fee of $240 for prime tee times. Afternoon tee times, from noon to 2:20 p.m., are $145, and the twilight rate for play starting after 2:30 p.m. and ending by 6 p.m. is $85.
Rates include shared golf cart with Global Positioning System and warm-up range balls prior to play.
Tee times for visitors are available up to 30 days in advance of play.
Kama‘aina tee times for local residents are available seven days in advance of play. Kaua‘i residents rate is $68 and Hawai‘i state residents rate is $75.
The course, home to the Professional Golf Association Grand Slam of Golf from 1994 to 2006, offers a Kama‘aina Foursome Special which allows four to play for the price of three. This effectively reduces the price for each player to $55. A valid Hawai‘i’s driver’s license is required to verify residency for all kama‘aina rates.
Complete rates and online tee time arrangements can be found on the Po‘ipu Bay Golf Course website at www.poipubaygolf.com/rates.html.
Coinciding with the opening of the golf course on Dec. 16, the restaurant at the clubhouse will also reopen, and the hours at the Po‘ipu Bay award-winning Golf Shop, will be restored to 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., daily. While the golf course is undergoing its renovation, the Po‘ipu Bay Golf Shop is operating on a limited schedule.
The Po‘ipu Bay Golf Course, a Robert Trent Jones design, opened in 1991 and gained international recognition when it hosted the PGA Grand Slam of Golf. The 18-hole course is situated on 210 oceanfront acres adjacent to the Grand Hyatt Kaua‘i Resort and Spa and has been consistently ranked among the top 100 resort courses in America.
