Janet Yoshiko Miyake of Hanama‘ulu died on Oct. 31, 2010, at age 84. Born in Kapa‘a on Feb. 1, 1926, she was the owner of Hanama‘ulu Café.
Preceded in death by husband Roy Kenji Miyake, she is survived by her son, Wayne (Kathy) Miyake; three daughters, Lorna of Honolulu, Arleen, and Debra (Koichi) Aramaki; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister Sue Leong; brother Noburo (Kikue) Agena; nieces and nephews.
Private services were held.
Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home assisted the Miyake family with arrangements.
Rachel Akazawa
Rachel Akazawa of Kalaheo died Nov. 1, 2010, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at age 77.
Born on June 22, 1933, she was a secretary with the Kaua‘i Police Department.
She is survived by husband Chiaki Akazawa of Kalaheo; son Clayton of San Francisco, Calif.; one grandchild; brothers Seiji Okutsu of Los Angeles, Calif., and Paul Okutsu of ‘Aiea; sisters Mitsuko Matsuura and Margie Shin, both of Pearl City; numerous nieces and nephews.
Services were private.
Arrangements were handled by Garden Island Mortuary, Ltd.
