LIHU‘E — Following the recent string of fortune on the island’s golf courses, a trio of players all found the cup off the tee in recent weeks.
Liz Suenaga of Lihu‘e aced the 17th hole at the Wailua Golf Course on Jan. 5. She used a Hybrid #3 club from 112 yards away to notch the first hole-in-one of her two-year golf career.
“I’m stoked!” was Suenaga’s comment.
Mike Ferrell had a hole-in-one on the eighth hole at the Princeville Makai Golf Course on Jan. 12.
Ferrell muscled up with an 8 Iron from 158 yards out and accomplished the rare feat as playing companions Don Montgomery and Perry Watson witnessed the event.
Down at the Po‘ipu Bay Golf Course, John Gilbert of Houston, Texas knocked in an ace on Dec. 28. Gilbert scored his eagle on the seventh hole, using a gap wedge from 105 yards out.
The shot was witnessed by his wife Julie, as well as Jerry and Mark Clements of Austin, Texas.
