A 33-year-old male visitor from Guatemala was rescued Wednesday after struggling in strong ocean current off Secret Beach. Station 1 was first to respond to the call about the distressed swimmer at about 5 p.m., states a county press release.
A 33-year-old male visitor from Guatemala was rescued Wednesday after struggling in strong ocean current off Secret Beach. Station 1 was first to respond to the call about the distressed swimmer at about 5 p.m., states a county press release. Two firefighters swam out to the man with rescue tubes to provide assistance. Due to high surf and hazardous ocean conditions, the firefighters were unable to swim the man back to shore. Responders waited with the man roughly 200 yards off shore until Rescue 3 and Air 1 were able to pull them out of the water. The man was brought to safety and checked by first responders at the scene. He did not require additional medical treatment.
