PUHI — Tickets this this year’s Souper Sunday are now on sale at Clayworks at Kilohana and at the Kaua‘i Independent Food Bank.
Susan Pittman said soup afficionadoes can enjoy a specially created soup by Chef Andy Althouse of 22 North and take home a handmade ceramic soup bowl.
All of this benefits the Kaua‘i Independent Food Bank in its efforts at trying to feed the hungry people on the island, Pittman said.
Diners can enjoy the culinary creation in the garden setting area behind the Clayworks shop, or have it to go and enjoy during the National Football League’s Super Bowl game.
Doors open at 11:30 a.m. and continues through 2 p.m., Feb. 6.
This is the 16th year Clayorks at Kilohana is hosting this special event, and Pittman recommends people make their $25 donation early to ensure their choices of colors and designs for soup bowls.
“Last year, we sold about 250 tickets,” Pittman said. “This year’s tickets are now available, but it seems like Super Bowl is coming earlier and earlier each year.”
A new choice for diners this year is a bowl described by Pittman, past president of the Rotary Club of Po‘ipu Beach, as a “Swirl.”
This allows diners a spot to rest a spoon while enjoying the soup. Previous offerings included a pair of dips where chopsticks could be rested during the enjoyment of soup. These bowls will continue to be offered, Pittman said.
Clayworks at Kilohana is a working artists’ studio and gallery located on the grounds of the Kilohana Estate, open seven days a week.
