Team Central suffered losses for both its teams at the county’s Boys 13 and Under Winter Basketball League, Thursday at the Kilauea Neighborhood Center.
Reymund Mendoza finished with 11 points to lead Westside Basketball to a 35-20 win over Team Central 2 in the opener, before Matthew Cummings posted 14 points to pace Hanakila in its 44-35 edge over Team Central 1 in the nightcap.
Following Mendoza, Jamin Fernandes, Ky Tanimoto and Theron Shigematsu posted six points apiece for the Westside win.
Lester Acojido and Bryden Reyes each netted nine points to lead the Team Central 2 scoring.
Tyler Fernandez dropped a game-high 16 points to lead the Team Central 1 effort. He was followed by Mark Lacierna and Lanakila Wilson netting nine and five points, respectively.
Following Cummings, Christian Roslin finished with 12 points and Dave Aquinaldo ended with six points.
The Boys 13 and Under league wraps up with four games on tap today and three final games Monday at the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center.
Hanakila opens against Papalina-Blue starting this morning at 9 a.m., followed by the Flyin’ Hawaiians matching up against Team Central 2 at 10 a.m. Team Central 1 takes on the Kaua‘i Ballers starting at 11 a.m. and Ho‘ouila rounds out the day against Team Extreme starting at noon.
Monday night, the Flyin’ Hawaiians open against Team Extreme starting at 6 p.m., followed by the Kaua‘i Ballers tangling with Ho‘ouila at 7 p.m. Westside Basketball closes out the night against Papalina-White starting at 8 p.m.
